Fostering A People-First Safety Culture
Safety is non-negotiable. It is a commitment that guided our actions and decisions. We have strong leadership and a firm dedication to developing a safety culture.

We place a very high priority on looking after the safety and health of our people. To this end, it is imperative that a safe and conducive working environment be created to enable them to grow, progress and excel. Our Occupational Safety and Health induction and awareness programme is the first step to engaging new employees, contractors and visitors regarding on-site and workplace safety aspects.
With the help of PERKESO, the Department of Environment Malaysia, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department and other local emergency agencies, BERNAS had also formed an Emergency Response Team (ERT) at every regional office and KBB as the first line of defence in emergencies.
The employee Occupational Safety and Health Programme is conducted annually to consistently create, build and sustain the awareness of occupational safety and health (OSH) and risk prevention throughout the Kilang Beras BERNAS (KBB) and warehouses.
Holding on to our safety slogan “Budaya Kerja Selamat Satu Tuntutan”, we have succeeded in substantially reducing workplace accidents. Our final objective is to achieve the Zero-Accident target by enforcing a stringent set of operational controls for more effective risk management.
